Mr. Sunderland
Hello,
I’m Eric Sunderland and I am honored to teach American History and Bible (11th grade), and Government, Economics, Bible, and Speech (12th grade) at Allegiant Academy. This is my 3rd year teaching at Allegiant and I am thankful that the Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to instruct these wonderful young men and women. I have been married for nearly 20 years and have two sons, one in 11th grade and the other in 8th grade.
I attended Point Loma Nazarene University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and another Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science. I have been fascinated by the United States and its history from a young age and am thrilled to be able to teach it to our students. As much as I love teaching about America, the most rewarding (and challenging) subject I teach is Bible. By the time students reach my class in 11th grade, they have read the entire Bible with Mr. Johnson and learned church history. In 11th grade we take that knowledge and learn how it shapes our worldview. We then compare our worldview with others and discover why we believe what we believe and how we live it out. In 12th grade students learn the different spiritual disciplines needed to stay strong in their faith as they enter the next chapter of their lives, whether that is college, the workforce, or whatever else God has in store for them.
It is truly a blessing to be a part of this wonderful program and mentor the future Christian leaders of our community.
